7 Best Stretch Mark Creams For Any Budget

7 best stretch mark creams

Stretch marks are normal and happen to us all so you shouldn’t feel pressured to cover them – some mums wear them proudly as a “baby-making badge of honour”. That being said, it’s just as acceptable to feel like you want to give them a bit of TLC.

There are hundreds of thousands of stretch mark creams and products claiming to make a difference, but there is only a handful that we religiously stalk in order to purchase as our beauty pregnancy must-haves and we’re here to spill the tea on them.

Mustela Stretch Mark Cream – best overall, Amazon, £18.97

This beautiful 3-in-1 moisturiser helps reduce the appearance of stretch marks during pregnancy and postpartum. In fact, 96% of women who used this product regularly throughout their pregnancy did not develop stretch marks during their pregnancy. No wonder this product has been a go-to for pregnant women for decades!

Bio-Oil – best oil, Amazon, £17.99

Bio-Oil is the holy grail of skin products and is highly recommended by dermatologists!

Don’t second guess this product by the word “oil” in its name, it’s a non-greasy formula with ingredients such as vitamin E, chamomile, rosemary, and lavender extracts that help minimise the appearance of skin discoloration and stretch marks. Beyond just stretch marks, you can also use Bio-Oil to heal other skin concerns such as scars, acne, and blemishes (which we know pregnancy hormones can bring about) – making this a staple in your cupboard!

Weleda Stretch Mark Massage Oil – Best for sensitive skin, Amazon, £17.23

Weleda’s products are free from all synthetic ingredients and fillers making it suitable for those with sensitive skin. It contains arnica, a natural anti-inflammatory to stop unwanted stretch marks from forming, along with jojoba, wheat germ oil and vitamin E. The natural collagen found in vitamin E helps skin retain its elasticity.

Palmers Stretch Mark Lotion – Best organic, Amazon, £3.56

This sweet-smelling lotion moisturises your skin to improve skin elasticity, texture, and tone. Even better, it’s free of mineral oils, parabens, and phthalates and was created specifically to prevent and treat stretch marks but can also double up as an all-over body moisturiser.

Pregnacare Stretch Mark Cream – Best for when you’re on a budget, Amazon, £7.59

Expensive beauty products don’t necessarily make them any better! In fact, this beautiful rich formula contains very similar ingredients to others, like vitamin E with the added benefits of vitamin C and botanical extracts. It’s thick and moisturising without being heavy, making your skin smooth and supple.

Mama Mio Tummy Rub Cream – best for a prevention routine, Amazon, £24

Mama Mio didn’t just make one cream, they created a whole stretch mark prevention routine for each trimester (yes, you read that correctly). They promise to soothe itchy tummies, strengthen skin and help prevent stretch marks from appearing. It definitely got the gold star badge from us. This brand has been hailed by the Kardashians and if that’s not enough reason to get you adding them to your cart I don’t know what is.

Cowshed Stretch Mark Balm – best rich formula, Amazon, £19.80

Gently massage this rich balm over your bump and any other areas that are changing throughout your pregnancy. The ingredients have been carefully selected with new mama’s in mind, from the lush coconut oil to moisturiser and soften to Sea Buckthorn oil as a source of protective vitamins and minerals to care deeply for your skin.

It’s important to note that you can’t completely remove stretch marks, as much as we may wish, there is no miracle potion that will erase them.  However, these products will help lower the chances of getting them or reduce their appearance once you have them.

Bottom line: for best results, use a product daily during pregnancy and up to three months after. Remember don’t feel disheartened, stretch marks are normal and beautiful. After all, they’re a sign that your skin has stretched to accommodate your baby.
